Chella Vaidyanathan is the Curator of 19th-21st Century Rare Books and Manuscripts. She is also the Liaison Librarian for the Department of History, Center for Africana Studies, and the Program in Latin American Studies at Johns Hopkins University. She enjoys teaching course-specific bibliographic instruction sessions and loves working and teaching with special collections materials. Particularly, I love integrating digital primary source materials, multi-media, and Web 2.0 tools like blogs, wikis, Flickr, YouTube, etc. in my classes. The availability of several online social networking sites offers us a lot of opportunities to promote our libraries’ print and digital collections to our users. I am also interested in the application of GIS to the discipline of humanities and in digital humanities in general. She received her Master of Library Science degree from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2006. She also has a Master of Arts in European History from Southern Illinois University and a Master of Philosophy in Indian History and Master of Arts in History from Meenakshi College for Women, Chennai, India. Chella is actively involved in several committees of the ACRL sections, including the Western European Studies (WESS) Section, the Rare Books and Manuscripts (RBMS) Section, and the Asian, African and Middle Eastern Section (AAMES).
