rights and restrictions from accession to access

Courtney Mumma

Donors are messy record keepers

Identifying rights and restrictions info at the front end -- where do you ID these and how

And how do you provide access in the reading room when partially restricted, data redacted, etc.

They have large amount of content from Vancouver Olympic games.

Records in paper kept better -- less well with digital content. Digital record keeping systems change over time, dependent on needs

Sometimes 3rd party invovlved, have to wait till they are contacted.

Sometimes restriction around particular incident.

In paper environment, we wouldn't accept content without rights statements -- but digital, metadata not kept with records not kept well.

It's part of processing in archives to determine the rights issues. Big workload issue.
