I am the digitization archivist at the Ralph Rinzler Folklife Archives and Collections, Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage. I work primarily with paper-based materials from music-heavy collections. We are a pretty small shop, just six of us (four of us are contractors), so even though I'm a "digitization archivist," I do some reference work, processing, preservation, and even budget planning. I also co-manage the Smithsonian Collections Blog, to which 10 different Smithsonian units contribute (http://si-siris.blogspot.com/). I am passionate about archival outreach, particularly with regards to non-traditional users. I have dreams of delving deeper into the digital humanities world, but I'm not quite sure where to start.

Outside of the stacks, I like cooking, food culture and history, and insisting that reading fantasy is something really cool people do.
